Procedures for registering at Bryant High School

Bryant Alternative High School is a Fairfax County high school; however, students must apply to enroll. Students and parents must meet with their school counselor at their base school to complete the application. 

How to Register a New Student

Enrollment procedures for students under 18:

  1. Parents and student must meet with their student’s base school counselor and submit a written request to attend Alternative Schools Program

  2. The base school should submit the following documentation to Nontraditional School Program Office and Bryant High School:
  • Placement Referral Form (SS/SE 227)
  • A parent request letter
  • Counselor/administrator memo
  • An updated FCPS transcript with work in progress and quarter grades (if applicable)
  • Testing record with SOL scores and WIDA scores if applicable
  • Discipline file
  • Immunization records

Enrollment procedures for students between ages 18 – 20:

  1. Meet with the base school counselor/administrator to discuss Bryant high school as a possible placement (if currently enrolled).
  2. The base school sends documents  or student can bring the following documents to Bryant:
  • An updated FCPS transcript with work in progress and quarter grades (if applicable)
  • Testing record with SOL scores and WIDA scores if applicable
  • Discipline file
  • Immunization records

Bryant student services staff will review the student’s records for placement.

Upon acceptance by Bryant High School, the student will be contacted by Bryant Student Services staff to schedule a registration appointment

Students receiving Special Education services, regardless of age, must have an IEP meeting prior to enrolling at Bryant High School. The student’s base school Special Education Department Chair or case manager should contact Bryant High School Special Education Department Chair (703-660-2001) to schedule IEP meeting to determine if BHS can provide the support needed for the student to be successful and is an appropriate placement.

Withdrawals

Requests for withdrawals must be done in person. During the withdrawal process the student must return all books, pay obligations, and obtain required signatures. Upon completion, students will receive their transcript, immunization record and withdrawal grades.

Change of Address Notification

Addresses will only be changed when a deed or lease and 2 current bills are submitted to the Student Service office.
