In Child Development and Parenting, we are learning how to assess the impact of the parenting role in society. Students are discovering how to prepare for a healthy emotional and physical beginning for parent and child. We are exploring ways to build positive parent-child relationships; using positive guidance to promote self-discipline, self-esteem, and socially responsible behavior. Students are receiving parenting information and support identifying ways that families and society can share in nurturing children and adolescents.
In Nutrition and Wellness, students are learning the importance of a nutritious eating plan and daily physical activity throughout their life span. We are understanding how decisions made affects the state of wellness at various stages of the life cycle. Students are gaining knowledge about the body’s need for various nutrients and how to achieve healthy weight and body composition by balancing energy. Students are exploring strategies for staying physically active throughout the life span. Students are recognizing sources of stress and identifying strategies for reducing stress.
In Life Planning, we are establishing and maintaining strong and healthy relationships with multiple groups of people. Students are understanding on how to reach their full potential, set goals, problem solve, make good decisions, communicate clearly and effectively in various settings, cope with change, choose a successful career, manage stress, respond appropriately to crises, and meet the financial challenges of daily living.
